Canada issued 25,575 work permits for Humanitarian and Compassionate purposes in 2020
In six months of 2020, Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 25,575 work permits for Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) purposes. These work permits allow several categories of foreign nationals to legally work in Canada. These categories include foreign nationals who have applied for permanent residence on humanitarian and compassionate grounds and whose application has been approved in principle, holders of the Temporary Resident Permit (TRP), and some categories refugees whose claims are being processed and who got permission to work to support themselves by the Immigration and Refugee Board. Last year, Canada issued 63,100 worker permits under H&C.
