Canada may gradually resume biometrics submissions from within Canada
According to the automated message on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) phone lines, and several unofficial reports from the interested public, Service Canada started to contact foreign nationals who currently reside in Canada and applied for permanent residence in Canada in order to schedule personal appointments to submit the biometrics. Canada cancelled all biometrics appointments in March 2020. Starting July 15, IRCC exempt in-Canada applicants for a work and study permit, work and study permit extensions, temporary resident visas, temporary resident visas extensions and restorations from submitting biometrics until further notice. At the same, the biometrics requirement for PR applicants was not cancelled. Instead, IRCC automatically extends the deadlines to submit biometrics for In-Canada candidates.
