20% of all OINP nominations in 2020 were issued to the IT sector

Every fifth Ontario nominee in 2020 represented the IT sector. According to the annual report about the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), the province nominated 1,604 persons out of 8,054, whose main occupation was one of the following:

Software engineers and designers – 528
Computer programmers and interactive media developers – 374
Computer and information systems managers – 172
Database analysts and data administrators – 162
Web designers and developers – 96
Computer engineers (except software engineers and designers) – 63

New Brunswick has updated the Skilled Worker Stream Guide

On March 22, 2021, the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) released an updated official guide to the Skilled Worker Stream. The new guide includes updated instructions for Truck Drivers. Truck Drivers now have to demonstrate only six months of continuous work experience in New Brunswick to be eligible for this stream. Yet, they still are required to possess 24 months of work experience as NOC 7511: Transport Truck Drivers in the last five years before the application submission.

On March 22, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) released a program delivery update regarding sex or gender identifier on IRCC documents. The new instructions allow the government system to change sex or gender identifier for temporary residents on their IRCC documents.
