On June 8, 2022, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that Canada has passed the milestone of welcoming 15,000 Afghan refugees since August 2021. IRCC increased the number of citizenship ceremonies

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has dramatically boosted the number of new citizens in the first quarter of 2022, as it tackles the immigration backlog. According to official data, more than 95,000 people became citizens in the first three months of the year, compared to 136,604 people throughout 2021.
