On June 8, 2022, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that Canada has passed the milestone of welcoming 15,000 Afghan refugees since August 2021. On June 9, 2022, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced that the province will accept more Ukrainian nationals. Additional 166 Ukrainians will depart Warsaw, Poland and arrive in St. John’s on Tuesday, June 14. Ottawa introduced new instructions for Quebec Selection Certificate holders

On June 9, 2022, the Government of Canada introduced a new update for specific Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) holders currently in Quebec [R205(a) – A75]. New instructions clarify that applicants cannot apply for the labour market impact assessment (LMIA) exempt work permit category under the International Mobility Program at a port of entry being physically in Canada as a temporary resident. IRCC increased the number of citizenship ceremonies

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has dramatically boosted the number of new citizens in the first quarter of 2022, as it tackles the immigration backlog. According to official data, more than 95,000 people became citizens in the first three months of the year, compared to 136,604 people throughout 2021.
