Canada introduced a new trade agreement between Canada and United Kingdom

On May 20, 2021, Canada introduced the Agreement on Trade Continuity between Canada and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (CUKTCA) that came into force on April 1, 2021. The applications of the nationals of the United Kingdom who were previously covered under the Canada–European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) are processed through this agreement. The Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) exemption codes will remain the same as they were in CETA. However, officers will add a special program code to distinguish CUKTCA and CETA applications in the Global Case Management System (GCMS).
