ESDC announced changes to the owner/operator category
On February 16, 2021, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) announced changes in the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) related to the applications for Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for the “owner/operator” category. Effective April 1, 2021, ESDC lifted special processing instructions for the owner/operator LMIAs. This means ESDC will remove the advertising exemption for owner/operator candidates. Additionally, business owners/operators will be required to advertise and pay the wage in accordance with the ESDC requirement.
