ESDC issued 39,901 positive LMIAs in the first quarter of 2020
According to the official data by the Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), the number of temporary foreign worker (TFW) positions on positive Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIAs) in the first quarter of 2020 was 39,901. This figure is somewhat lower than 40,929 positive LMIAs issued by ESDC in the fourth quarter of 2019. Last year, Canada issued 129,558 positive LMIAs. At the moment, it is hard to predict the exact impact of the COVID-19 on the LMIA issuance, but the total number might be much lower than expected.
