Great news for international graduates regarding PGWP
On May 14, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) released great news for international students in Canada. In order to diminish the negative effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the international education industry and to support international students, IRCC stated that taking online courses will not have any impact on the eligibility for Post Graduate Work Permit. This also applies to those who will take online courses in fall 2020. Moreover, international students may begin their classes while outside Canada and complete up to 50% of their courses via online learning if they are not able to travel to Canada. Over 54,000 international students become Canadian permanent residents through the Post Graduate Work Permit program annually.
