IELTS – READING

Task: 

  • 3-4 texts
  • 40 questions
  • Use answer sheet.
  • Timing 60 minutes (No extra time for transferring the answers onto the answer sheet)

 

Source of texts: 

books, journals, magazines and newspapers

 

Main types of questions you can get in the reading test:

  • True/false/not given questions
  • Multiple choice questions
  • Matching tasks
  • Gap filling tasks
  • Sentence completion tasks
  • Classification tasks
  • Short-answer questions
  • Chart, table or diagram completion tasks

 

Tips to improve your Score in Reading:

1. Use Time wisely

2. Read the Task thoroughly and pay attention to the word limit

3. Get Better at Scanning. Do not try to understand the whole text.

4. Find keywords in the questions

4. Enrich your vocabulary. But, don’t panic if the Vocabulary is difficult. This isn’t a vocabulary test!

5. Familiarise yourself with long, difficult passages

6. Identify your weaknesses

7. Improve Your Reading Speed.

8. Acquire skills of Skimming and scanning
