In 2020, Canada welcomed 1,060 immigrants in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot

In the first half of 2020, Canada admitted 1,060 immigrants through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP). New Brunswick keeps attracting the most immigrants in the AIPP in Maritimes. The province accepted 455 newcomers (42.9% of the total). Nova Scotia is slightly behind New Brunswick with 425 immigrants (40.1%). Newfoundland and Labrador welcomed 100 AIPP immigrants (9.4%). Finally, Prince Edward Island admitted 80 newcomers in the AIPP (7.5%). Unfortunately, due to the COIVD-19, the Maritimes will not repeat the last year’s record of 4,145 immigrants in the AIPP and most likely, the four provinces will not use all quota of 5,000 immigrants as was set in 2020-2022 Immigration Levels Plan. Since the launch of the AIPP in 2017, Canada admitted about 6,695 immigrants through this program.
