IRCC issued 66,990 Study Permits in 2020

In the first four months of the year, Canada issued 44,465 Study Permits for international students. Most new study permit holders study in Ontario – 29,035 permits; British Columbia was the second most popular education destination – 15,800 permits; 12,535 foreign students were allowed to study in Quebec; 3,090 international students started their programs in Alberta; another 2,270 study permit holders came to study in Manitoba; colleges and universities in Nova Scotia attracted 1,425 international students; 875 had chosen Saskatchewan; New Brunswick admitted 555 foreign students; Newfoundland and Labrador got 375 students; 270 international students went to Prince Edward Island. Finally, Yukon admitted 35 students. An additional 725 study permit holders did not specify their province of study. Last year, Canada issued 402,335 study permits.
