Marco Mendicino received a Supplementary Mandate Letter
On January 15, 2021, the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau published a Supplementary Mandate Letter for Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Marco Mendicino. In fact, the new letter does not add additional goals for IRCC nor clearly set the previous. The government calls IRCC to keep reaching the targets of the Immigration Levels Plan, expanding the pilot program for refugees, support expedited family reunification, and work on sectoral and regional pilot programs. The letter also mentions the PR pathway for front line health care workers and call for exploration of PR options for temporary foreign workers. Unfortunately, there are still no updates about the Municipal Nominee Program, making Atlantic Immigration Pilot permanent, or removing citizenship fees – news long expected by the public.
