New rules for LMIA in Quebec
On July 24, 2020, the Quebec Ministry of Immigration (MIFI) announced the new rules for the processing of the Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP). Quebec employers who possess a valid LMIA may request the replacement of a Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) with another TFW, without a need to apply for a new LMIA if the original TFW cannot obtain a Quebec Certificate of Acceptance (CAQ) or a work permit. Quebec employers are also allowed to request the replacement of a TFW if no work permit was issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) under this LMIA.
