Nova Scotia accepted a record number of immigrants in 2021

In 2021, Nova Scotia set a provincial Canada immigration record by accepting three times more permanent residents. According to the latest report published by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in 2021, the Atlantic Canadian province admitted 9,020 new permanent residents. This is an increase of 157 percent when compared to the statistics from 2020. Nova Scotia has steadily increased immigration numbers since 2015. The provincial immigration minister Jill Balser stated that newcomers help the province fill labour needs, develop the economy, and improve the quality of life in the province.
