Nova Scotia released its 2020 immigration statistics

On December 29, 2020, Nova Scotia published its 2020 immigration statistics. In 2020, Nova Scotia approved 3,517 applications, 225 applications more than it was allocated by the federal government. 1,617 cases were processed in the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIPP) and 1,900 under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). Most applications were for immigrants working in health care and transportation. The province expects the arrival of those newcomers in the next few years once their cases are approved by IRCC. From January 1 to October 31, Nova Scotia admitted 3,010 permanent residents, 1,430 under the NSNP and 635 in the AIPP. 1,018 international graduates settled in Nova Scotia this year. In 2020, Nova Scotia approved 624 applications of continuing care assistants and 555 nurses this year. In the Labour Market Priorities Stream, NSNP invited 356 francophones, 316 registered nurses. The population of the province has reached 979,115 as of October 1, 2020.
