Ontario allocated $7.74 million to help newcomers

The government of Ontario allocated $7.74 million to 19 new immigrant training courses across the province to assist approximately 2,700 immigrants in learning English and acquiring other skills. According to Monte McNaughton, the Minister of Labour of Ontario, new immigrants account for 30% of Ontario’s labour force and the provincial government is responsible to provide training to help new immigrants. Last year, more than 34,000 new immigrants in Ontario were unemployed or laid off, three times higher than that of local Canadians.
