Ottawa named 12 members of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration

New members of the Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration (CIMM) who will monitor immigration-related federal policies have been chosen for the 44th parliamentary session. The committee consists of 12 elected Members of Parliament (MPs) from every political party. CIMM oversees matters relating to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB) and closely monitors how these institutions are operating, following their mandates, and getting managed. The Standing Committee also examines policies and backlogs on immigration, as well as their objectives and effectiveness.
