Ottawa updated the cost threshold for excessive demand on health and social services

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) considers if an applicant might reasonably be expected to cause excessive demand on health or social services in Canada, as a part of the immigration application review. On January 4, 2022, the Government of Canada updated the average Canadian per capita health and social services. The annual cost threshold figure for excessive demand on health and social services has increased from $7,266 to $8,019, and 3 times that average has been updated from $21,798 to $24,057.
