People are moving out of the City of Montreal
Statistics show that the number of people who moved out of the Montreal metropolitan area in 2018-2019 exceeded the number of newcomers in the area for the first time in more than ten years. But since there were more births than deaths, the population size has increased. The City of Montreal said in a recent report that during this period, the number of people who settled in the area was less than the number of people who moved out of the area by 5,932 people, the highest level in 20 years. The number of international immigrants who settled in the metropolitan area has decreased. Nearly 29,000 immigrants arrived in 2018-2019, 3,600 fewer people than the previous year.
