Pre-Removal Risk Assessment to be conducted online
On December 2, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that in response to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, Pre-Removal Risk Assessment (PRRA) hearings can now be delivered remotely through the videoconference technology. Applicants for PRRA along with their councils will now have the opportunity to participate in the hearings using their own devices to connect to MS Teams. The more flexibility in the process organization will reduce the need to visit the council’s office and participate in the hearing from the home location of the applicant. IRCC stressed that the remote participation in the PRRA hearings may continue after the COVID-19 pandemic.
