Temporary residents are now allowed to change sex or gender with IRCC
On March 22, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) released a program delivery update regarding sex or gender identifier on IRCC documents. The new instructions allow the government system to change sex or gender identifier for temporary residents on their IRCC documents. These updates aimed at aligning the IRCC policies with Sex and Gender Information Practices in the other departments of the government. To apply for sex or gender change, candidates must submit a Request Form for a Change of Sex or Gender Identifier and any requested documents to establish their identity.
