Top-10 countries of the total PR admissions in the first half of 2020
IRCC has released new official data on the permanent resident admissions in 2020. In the first half of the year, Canada admitted 103,420 newcomers. A quarter of them originated from India – 26,610 (25.7% of the total). China is the second-largest country of origin of immigrants – 10,150 (9.8%). The third place is taken by the Philippines – 6,930 (6.7%). The other top ten countries of origin are: the USA – 3,870 immigrants (3.7%), Nigeria – 3,350 (3.2%), Pakistan – 3,305 (3.2%), Brazil – 2,255 (2.2%), France – 2,240 (2.2%), Syria – 2,145 (2.1%), and United Kingdom – 2,140 (2.1%).
