Trudeau imposed further travel restrictions

On January 29, 2021, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced new restrictive measures related to the government’s efforts to combat the COVID-19 and its new strains. All international arrivals will now be obligated to do the COVID-19 PCR test. To recall, having a negative test is a mandatory requirement to board flights to Canada. The second test will increase the chances to identify infected individuals. Also, Canada will accept international passengers in four cities: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary. Furthermore, all travellers will be obligated to stay at designated hotels while waiting for the test results. According to Trudeau, such a stay can last for 2-3 days and will cost about 2,000 CAD at the expense of the travellers. If the test is negative, travellers will be released to continue their 14-days self-isolation at their own location.
