Ukraine will not get a visa-free regime with Canada this year

Ukraine may not receive a visa-free regime with Canada this year, according to the statement made by Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko. “There will be no visa-free regime this year. Anyone who is familiar with how Canada works on this issue understands that it will take years, but probably many years, to solve it, because the country is conservative on this issue. But we are working on it, and it will definitely happen. It will happen in the foreseeable future because both Ukraine and Canada need it,” Andriy Shevchenko said. Shevchenko added that it is possible to reach an agreement on youth mobility, which will allow students to come to Canada for the academic year. The Youth Mobility Agreement will provide for simplified work permits under the Working Holiday category of the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program.
