Will the Immigrant Investor Program come back in light of COVID-19?

Under the pressure of multiple lobbyists, the Canadian federal government may choose to bring back the Immigrant Investor Program (IIP) to support the economy amid the coronavirus pandemic. The federal government abolished the IIP in 2015 because the program did not provide sufficient economic benefits nor did the participants contribute to the community as expected. As Canada will be running a deficit of over $343 billion, however, it is expected the government may re-implement the IIP to support the economy and jobs and mitigate the damage caused by the pandemic.
