Work Permits under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot to be submitted online
On August 17, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) released a new program delivery update regarding work permits under Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP). Effective August 17, IRCC will accept applications for AIPP work permits online. IRCC also clarified that it will accept paper applications until September 1, 2020. The Atlantic Immigration Pilot was launched on March 6, 2017, and will remain in place until December 31, 2021. Last year the Liberal government voiced plans to make the AIPP permanent, however, this was not announced yet. Since the launch of the program, Canada welcomed about 6,695 immigrants through the AIPP.
